为了纪念唐继尧护国有功，云南造币厂开始奉命印铸唐继尧像拥护共和纪念币，分为侧像与正面像两种版别，面值均为三钱六分。其中侧像纪念币正面为唐继尧侧面头像，上方为“军务院抚军长唐”；背面为民国双旗图案，上方有“拥护共和纪念”字样，下方为“库平三钱六分”；正面像纪念币正面为唐继尧正面像，边上有珠圈，珠圈下方为对称的嘉禾图案，上方为“军务院抚军长唐”，背面图案则与侧像版相同。
对于两种版别的铸造时间，业界一直颇有争议，如耿爱德(E.KANN)《中国币图说汇考》一书认为唐继尧正面像是民国五年，侧面像是民国六年；张惠信《中国货币史话目录》一书认为侧面像是民国五年，正面像是民国八年；上海古籍出版社出版的《简明钱币辞典》则认为两者都是民国七年所制。
